Monetario shows how macroeconomic news relates to the stocks you hold. To do that we keep as little about you as we can. This page lists all of it.
What we store
- Your portfolio. The tickers you enter and, if you add them, percentage weights. That's all: we never ask for or store amounts of money, share counts or account values. This is stored in our database so the page can show which events affect your holdings.
- A random ID in your browser. The first time you open your portfolio, your browser creates a long random ID and keeps it in local storage. It links your browser to your portfolio. It contains nothing about who you are.
- Your email address, only if you sign in. Signing in is optional. If you do, we store your email so you can open the same portfolio on another device. Our sign-in provider also records when you signed in and technical details such as your IP address, for security.
- A sign-in cookie, only if you sign in. It keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Visit statistics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and basic facts like country and device type. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you across other websites.
- How the site is used. To learn whether Monetario is useful enough to come back to, we record a few actions: opening the sample portfolio, setting up a portfolio, opening a signal, visiting again on a later day, and your ๐/๐ on an explanation (just the vote โ there is no text box). Each record holds the action, the time and a second random ID kept in your browser only for this purpose โ not the one linked to your portfolio. If you're signed in, it is linked to your account. It never contains your tickers, weights or email address.
What we don't collect
No name, no phone number, no connection to your broker or bank, and no payment details. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
Services we use
- Supabase โ our database and sign-in. Stores your portfolio and, if you sign in, your email.
- Cloudflare โ hosts and delivers the website, and provides the cookie-free visit statistics.
- Resend โ sends the sign-in email, so it receives your email address when you ask for a sign-in code.
- FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis) and the European Central Bank โ public economic data. We send them nothing about you.
- SEC EDGAR (US Securities and Exchange Commission) โ public company names and industry codes. When a ticker is added for the first time, our server looks that company up; the request contains the ticker only, never anything about you.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union, for example in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your portfolio, email and usage records until you ask us to delete them. Server logs are kept only as long as our hosting provider needs them for security.
Delete my data
You can delete everything yourself, at any time, with the button below (it's also at the bottom of your portfolio page). It asks you to confirm, then removes, for good:
- Signed in: every portfolio linked to your account, your usage records, and the account itself (your email address).
- Not signed in: this browser's portfolio and usage records. A portfolio that is linked to an account can only be deleted after signing in to that account.
Your browser then forgets its random IDs. Server logs kept by our hosting provider expire on their own.
Your rights
You can also ask us what we store about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Write to us at the address below and we will reply within 30 days. If you live in the EU, you can also complain to your national data protection authority.
